New project launch and a promising start...
๐ UX Remotely (Link)
Scratching my itch, I launched a newsletter to help UX and Product designers around the world find remote job opportunities specifically for our profession and with a clear indication of the applicable countries/regions. More context:
The start is very promising - 5 paying subscribers within 1 week ๐ฅณ
The unique value proposition is that my job board is the biggest, most relevant, and most up-to-date. I have not found any good tools to automate the curation, so doing everything manually. This is A LOT of work.
In a nutshell, there are 30 partially relevant job boards that I manually look through to select only jobs allowing Remote, and only jobs relevant to UX and Product Design (no Motion, Graphic, 3D, Game design, etc.). Plus, dozens of companies may get postings, but they donโt advertise on job boards, so I have to check their websites, too. Then, add or remove the postings to the page with the full list.
As you can imagine, this manual clicking, and reading/scanning through each job posting (to validate the applicable location) takes quite a lot of time. So, I decided to make this list available only to paid subscribers and have a weekly digest of sorts for free subscribers.
From the initial feedback from 3 of 5 paid subscribers, I hear that the list is super valuable and gives them access to more job openings that they could find on their own. Not surprisingly, manually seeking out all these jobs is a tedious task (I know this firsthand ๐ ). And I already tweaked the initial list based on the received feedback (broke it down into subcategories for different job levels, and the date when it was added to the list).
Now, the dilemma I have is what additional value I can bring to the paid subscribers, so I can democratize the list to all. What value should I provide to free subscribers, so they stay and potentially convert to paid, at some point?
Some ideas about the paid plan differentiation: email notifications when new jobs are added (e.g. daily), some portion of jobs exclusively posted for paid subscribers.
Many questions. Many experiments to run.
Also, have been exploring ways to automate the scraping, searching, filtering, etc. The manual way is ridiculous. An additional challenge is access permissions and how I could have some content easily available to paid vs free subscribers.

Practically zero organic traffic (1-2 unique per day). Ran 2 adwords campaigns a few months ago and had less than 100 unique per week. Decided to shut it down and wonโt be renewing the domain (expiring soon).

Have been thinking of pivoting this project and idea (of bringing internal culture and design team insights) to align my Remote UX Teams. This will require some refactoring of the data structure, which I donโt want to spend time on, for now. Maybe, later.
Are these jobs globally remote or located within the US/Canada/EU? I'm looking for a job board that covers the APAC region as well - and so far most companies restrict remote work to specific countries.
