π UX Career Tip #7: Quality over quantity
Don't blend in with a thousands of generic profiles, prioritize, focus, and stand out.
Regarding the job search, I highly recommend focusing on quality versus quantity.
π« Don't: send 1,000 generic job applications to every job posting.
β Do: choose the top 10 companies that fit your checklist of needs and wants, and go deep on these best picks.
This will allow you to do more thorough research on the company and people working there; build deeper connections with potential peers, recruiters, and hiring managers; tailor your portfolio, resume, etc.; and be more creative in your application and interviewing process.
π« Don't: list 15 job responsibilities for each previous job on your resume.
β Do: choose the top 3 that best align with the target job posting, and get razor-sharp on the match between those accomplishments and what this company is looking for in this role.
π« Don't: spam hundreds of unknown people on Linkedin with a generic message.
β Do: follow a more personalized approach by researching each person, understanding their interests and struggles, and trying to guess how you can help them.
You get the idea.
This is a much better approach to help you build more robust and higher-quality relationships, and stand out from others.
